James Metz, DDS, FACD, ABDSM

Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine
Dr. James Metz is a 1973 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, while serving in the US Army he attained the rank of Major. Today, he maintains a restorative dental practice with an emphasis on dental sleep medicine and reconstructive dentistry, both of which are being utilized, along with the surgical orthodontics (Surgically Facilitated Orthodontic Treatment). The goal of which is to address the major health issues of the today, Hypertension and Type II Diabetes, to help restore and maintain the health of the individual.
Dr Metz is member of the American Dental Association's Scientific Investigation Committee Workgroup, which is defining the role of the Oral Appliance for the control of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, as well as, the Scientific Investigation Committee of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry for Sleep Dentistry for Sleep Dentistry. He has served on the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine board of directors, course development committee, public relations committee, chair for both the Introductory and Advanced Course of Dental Sleep Medicine, and vice-chair of the AADSM Annual Meeting in 2014. He is a board member of the Ohio Sleep Society. Metz is the founder and current chair for the Dental Interest Group of the American Thoracic Society. As a member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and International Academy of Gnathology he has pursued excellence in the field of Restorative Dentistry. Dr. Metz is also a member of the American College of Dentists, American Dental Association, and served as president of the Muskingum Valley Dental Association.
Each year Dr Metz gives many graduate level, Continuing Education Courses and has been the Keynote speaker for many national meetings. He concentrates his efforts mainly in the United States and People’s Republic of China.
Dr Metz’s current research with Oral Appliance Therapy for Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and Headache have lead to the completion of a 148 consecutive patient study, soon to be published through the Northwestern University School of Medicine. The outcomes, using his techniques, have compared favorably to CPAP therapy for mild, moderate, and even severe OSA patients. It has also produced and new method for the control of chronic headache.

James Blank, DDS
General Dentist
With a passion for delivering world-class dental care, Dr. James
(Jim) Blank works diligently to remain on the leading edge of modern dentistry.
He has completed advanced training in sleep medicine and TMJ therapy, dental
implant surgery and restoration, prosthodontics, occlusion, cosmetic dentistry,
dental materials, and dental technology.
Along with continuing to grow his knowledge far beyond the required hours, Dr
Blank enjoys sharing with dental and medical professionals by teaching and
lecturing to study clubs and groups throughout the United States. As a faculty
dentist and lecturer for The Metz Center for Sleep Apnea, Dr. Blank shares his
experience and insights on topics such as sleep medicine, TMD, and practice
management. He has also has lectured to the prestigious American Academy of
Restorative Dentistry made of a the world leading dental practitioners and
researchers.
After receiving his undergraduate degree from Ohio Northern University, Dr.
Blank earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from The Ohio State University
College of Dentistry in 2004. He is a small business owner of multiple career
related companies and in 2016 received special recognition by the Dayton
Business Journal as one of 40 top business leaders under the age of 40.
Dr. Blank is a cofounder of the Columbus Interdisciplinary Dental Study Club
and a member of: American Thoracic Society, Academy of Dental Sleep
Medicine, American Dental Association, American Academy of Cosmetic
Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Implant
Dentistry, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, International Team for
Implantology, and the Sfumato Study Club. |

Mickey Harrison, D.D.S.
General Dentist
Dr. Mickey Harrison practices general and sleep dentistry in Central Ohio. He is a graduate of Northwestern University and The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Dr. Harrison has received extensive training in dental sleep medicine through continuing education. He is especially interested in current sleep medicine topics within the literature, and has lectured on this subject for several years. He works extensively to survey and compile literature and research concerning Sleep Medicine, and disseminate this information for the betterment of dental sleep medicine practitioners. Dr. Harrison maintains membership in the American Thoracic Society, the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and the Ohio Sleep Society. He is also a founding member of the Northeast Columbus Study Club.
Always taking a “whole person” approach to patient care, he found himself particularly attuned to the links between oral conditions and systemic pathologies. Several years ago, he heard Dr. Metz speak at a study club, and felt he would blend well with Dr. Metz’s mission to help TMJ and OSA patients. An ongoing dialogue was sparked, culminating in his joining The Metz Center in 2013. |

Steven Gable
Lead Dental Assistant
Marketing Coordinator
Steven has worn various hats at The Metz Center during his thirteen years of service. He has a history in laboratory work, and is now the Lead Dental Assistant to Dr. Metz during dental procedures. Steven is responsible for maintaining our technical equipment in the office. He helps to organize continuing education events, and helps to facilitate marketing efforts for The Metz Center. |

Megan is a Registered Dental Hygienist who has been with The Metz Center for fifteen years. During her tenure, she has provided over 14,000 prophylactic, periodontal, and screening services. Megan is a valuable member our continuing education team, regularly speaking to and training staff members on patient screening and care during our continuing education courses. |

Todd Bacome
Laboratory Manager
Todd has managed our dental laboratory since 2007. His responsibilities include training Staff, Doctors, and Technicians across the globe. Also, he maintains a timely production schedule, and fabrication of our custom oral appliances. Todd has fabricated over 10,000 oral appliances during his tenure with the FDA approved Metz Dental Laboratory. Todd's attention to detail ensures the highest quality product for our clients and their patients. |

Chris Takacs

Course and Education Coordinator
Chris' six year tenure with The Metz Center began in the dental laboratory, and transitioned to patient care coordination for Sleep Disordered Breathing and TMD Therapy. He provides international training in oral appliance fabrication, as well as patient care. Chris manages continuing education courses and learning opportunities for The Metz Center. |
